The newly formed Children’s Data Network (CDN) at the University of Southern California (USC) recently made its official debut at a conference promoting the use of administrative data to bolster research on child welfare policies. The conference attracted a rare but welcome mix of attendees, including individuals from state and county governments, research facilities, foundations, and L.A. partner organizations. Emily Putnam-Hornstein, who’s heading the CDN, noted that, “The CDN is not just about researchers in an academic setting crunching numbers. We want it to be a collaborative project where the work that emerges is actionable and relevant.”
